Teenagers formed a ring as a disco dancer at Old Wesley Rugby Club Dance Hall was head-butted and punched to the ground, a court heard yesterday. The victim of the assault, Mr Mark Kelly (20), of Ashfield Gardens, Clonsilla, Dublin, was awarded £17,500 damages.

The Circuit Court President, Mr Justice Smyth, said he could not accept that security personnel employed by the organisers, F.T.T.B. Grand Prix Motor Racing Club, Clontarf, Dublin, had not seen the ring form, the assault or Mr Kelly being dragged to the toilet by friends for attention.
