Awards for young science writers

Twenty six students were presented with special awards at the RDS this week for their contributions to the Young Science Writers' Competition.

The overall winner was Mr Ciaran Conliffe, of Queens University, Belfast, whose entry for the fiction (16 to 19 year olds) category was entitled Discussions During a Train Journey.

The competition, organised by the RDS in association with Technology Ireland, the Provincial Newspapers' Association and the Marine Institute, drew over 400 entries from students aged between 12 and 49.
