Two Albanian Yugoslavians seeking asylum appeared before Dublin District Court yesterday charged with stealing £70 worth of groceries from a city supermarket.
Mr Ben Leka (26), of Blessington Street, Dublin, and Mr Murat Mavrici (23), of Mountjoy Street, Dublin, were charged with stealing assorted foodstuffs valued at £70 from Roches Stores in Henry Street, on May 21st.
Speaking through an interpreter, both men pleaded not guilty to the charges. Prosecuting Garda John O'Brien said he had no objection to bail subject to certain conditions.
Judge William Hamill - manded the two men on £200 - bail to June 12th for hearing. He said they were to sign on weekly at the Aliens Office and notify the Department of Justice of any change of address.
