The secondary teachers union ASTI will meet political parties and school management bodies to highlight its opposition to the exemption of schools from the anti-discrimination provisions of the recently published Employment Equality Bill.

The union's general secretary, Mr Charlie Lennon, regretted that the Bill, "which contains so much which will make a positive contribution to equality in employment, provides for an exemption which will allow employers to discriminate against employees in the education sector".
