Secondary teachers have voted to withdraw from voluntary school-yard substitution and supervision following a ballot in Dublin today.

Just over 50 per cent of the Association of Secondary School Teachers of Ireland’s 16,000-strong membership were polled. A majority of 55 per cent voted in favor of withdrawal from voluntary substitution and supervision work.

The ASTI's Central Executive Council will meet tomorrow in Dublin to consider the implication of this ballot result.

The union will not be making any further statement about the result until its Central Executive Council has considered today's outcome.
