London - The artist, Prunella Clough, has died after a long battle with cancer, it was announced yesterday. She was 80. Miss Clough, of Chelsea, south-west London, died yesterday at London's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Despite shunning publicity, she became one of Britain's best-loved artists.

This year she won the coveted £30,000 Jerwood Prize for Painting.
