The five winners of the 91st annual art exhibition, Taispeantas Ealaine, have been announced by Mr Cathal Goan, controller of Teilifis na Gaeilge. The competition, which is open to both amateur and working artists, students and teachers, is part of an Oireachtas annual Irish culture festival.

Ms Bernie Masterson, Perrystown, Dublin, was awarded the Arts Council of Ireland Dr Douglas Hyde Medal and £200. Mr Gerald Casey, of Bennett's Bridge, Co Kilkenny, won the L&P Financial Services Award and £500. Ms Sheila Pomeroy, Bective, Co Meath, received the Duais KPMG, worth £1,000. Ms Alison Brent, Ranelagh, Dublin, was the winner of the Cast Ltd and An tOireachtas sculptures prize of £400. Mr Fred Conlon, Strandhill, Co. Sligo, was awarded the Waterford Crystal Prize of £200 and a crystal piece.

An exhibition of 150 works from the festival runs in the Guinness Hopstore in Dublin until September 26th.
