Never one to do things by halves, Ghost Ship sculptor Dorothy Cross has sited her latest work, Chiasm, in twin handball alleys overlooking Galway Bay. In Chi- asm, tempestuous images of the Atlantic rushing into Poll na bPeist, the tidal pool on Inis Mor, will be projected on to the floors of the alleys, in which tenor Eugene McGinty and soprano Carol Smith will sing. The inspiration is the myth of Ariadne who, abandoned by her treacherous lover Theseus on the island of Naxos, sings longingly of her homeland, Crete.

Chiasm is scheduled to take place this evening and tomorrow evening at the Handball Alleys, St Enda's College, Threadneedle Road, Salthill, Galway. Three repeated cycles are at 9 p.m., 9.45 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. £5/ £3 (1850-260027)
