The SDLP has condemned an arson attack on a public, house and restaurant near Aghalee, Co Antrim

The SDLP has condemned an arson attack on a public, house and restaurant near Aghalee, Co Antrim. The fire badly damaged the Gate Inn at, Cawley's Gate, Aghalee. Loyalist slogans were daubed on the wall of the building after it was ablaze.

A local SDLP councillor, Ms Dolores Kelly, said the attack was a "deliberate attempt by one section of our community to intimidate and undermine the other".

"I call on all local political and community leaders to come together to try and rebuild community relations in this area. Everyone should be careful not to make remarks which might be misconstrued and used by some as a legitimisation for this type of activity," Ms Kelly said.
