Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal to apprehend a driver who was involved in a fatal hit and run accident a month ago.

Farmer Gerry Keane from Ardrahan in south Co Galway died when he was knocked down by a car as he crossed the N18 Galway-Limerick road on November 16th.

Mr Keane, who was making his regular Friday evening visit to his local pub at the time of the incident, died in hospital the following day from his injuries.

A dark coloured hatchback car, which was heading in the direction of Galway city, is believed to have been involved in the incident. Gardaí said that the car was the last vehicle through the railway crossing south of Ardrahan shortly before the automatic barriers came down.
