Nicolas Anelka has revealed he is ready to agree a deal with Liverpool that will make his on-loan move to the Anfield club permanent.

The 22-year-old Paris Saint Germain striker has been instrumental in helping Liverpool maintain their title challenge since joining the club in December.

After the Frenchman's stunning display in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Newcastle, there were suggestions Liverpool should bring forward talks about the player's future.

Anelka, rated in the £15 million bracket, has admitted he is enjoying life on Merseyside.

"Phil Thompson will soon be okay to sign me to the club," he told L'Equipe. "It's been a long time since I enjoyed myself on the pitch, Liverpool is a fantastic club".

Anelka had barely playing for weeks at Paris St Germain after falling out with his third major club. But after largely unsuccessful spells at Real Madrid and PSG following his 1999 departure from Arsenal, Anelka believes he may have finally found a place to settle.

"Here, it's not like it is in Madrid or Paris. You can go out in the street and not be disturbed by people," he said.
