American remanded on bail

A 39-year-old American charged with sexually assaulting six women in Galway city was remanded on continuing bail at Galway District Court yesterday. The man denies six charges of sexual assault under Section 2 of the Rape Amendment Act, 1990, involving six women, on various dates between July 24th, 1999, and March 13th last. He also denies one charge of physically assaulting one of the women. A book of evidence was served on the accused, and the matter was adjourned until September 11th.
