Irish telecom company alphra - formerly ITG Group - today announced the completion of the purchase of the Transaction Services Division of De La Rue Plc for euro 9.6 million.

Under the deal, alphyra will acquire rights to a prepaid cellular platform accredited to all of the British network operators currently live with electronic top-up (Vodafone, Orange and BT Cellnet).

In addition, the company will acquire the rights to the PayzoneTM brand, one of Britain's leading national utility payment brands.

"This acquisition provides us with an opportunity to consolidate our position in the UK market and positions us well for future growth" said Mr John Nagle, chief executive alphyra.
