More than 80,000 sports fans are expected to descend on Dublin this weekend for the All-Ireland football final between Cork and Down.
Gardaí are warning motorists to expect traffic congestion on Sunday as fans gather for the match which kicks off in Croke Park at 3.30pm.
A cordon will be in place, restricting access to areas around Croke Park, including the Lower Drumcondra Road, Clonliffe Road, Ballybough Road and Clonliffe Avenue.
In rugby, Munster will take on the Ospreys in the Magners League at Thomond Park tomorrow night, with the game getting under way at 8pm.
In other sports events, the Dublin half marathon takes place tomorrow, with a number of roads closed off in the Phoenix Park to accommodate the event. The event kicks off at 10am.
Racing will take place at Fairyhouse in Ratoath, Co Meath on Sunday. The first race is at 2.15pm and the final running at 5.15pm.
Dublin Port Company will host a family-friendly open day tomorrow. A host of fun, free events will be taking place at Dublin Port from 10am to 4pm, including balloon makers, video installations, face-painters and interactive games. Free coach tours will be operating around the port all day, offering visitors a glimpse of how Ireland’s largest port operates.
A vintage tractor parade will take place in Athy, Co Kildare on Monday to mark the official opening of the National Ploughing Championships which take place from Tuesday 21st to Thursday 23rd. Some 180,000 people are expected to attend the event over the three days with long delays expected.
The Waterford City Harvest and Food Fair continues until Sunday, with food displays, cookery demonstrations, tug of war competitions and a mobile farm. Chef Neven Maguire will make a guest appearance at tomorrow, where he will demonstrate a lamb dish.
Lovers of food and beer are invited on a slow food tour to discover the delights of Dungarvan Oyster Farm, Paul Flynn’s Organic Garden and Dungarvan Brewing Company.
There will be scattered outbreaks of rain across the country tomorrow, with temperatures rising to between 13 and 17 degrees, according to Met Éireann. Sunday will see drier weather develop in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures will range from 15 to 18 degrees.
