Washington - The US Secretary of State, Ms Madeleine Albright, has delayed her trip to the Middle East, her spokesman said yesterday, in an apparent setback for the Palestinians.
The delay had been widely reported in the Middle East and came at the request of the Israeli Prime Minister, Mr Ehud Barak. Foreign policy analysts here viewed the postponement as a signal of US willingness to be patient with the Jewish state as it moves to restart the Wye River land-for-peace deal.
