The private bus company, Aircoach, has made a bid to be allowed to run the park-and-ride service in Dublin this Christmas.
The company has operated a coach service between Dublin Airport and the city centre for four weeks. It has applied to the Department of Public Enterprise for a modification of its licence to enable it to run the park-and-ride service.
Dublin Bus operated a pilot park-and-ride scheme last year. Details of this year's service are likely to be announced this week.
