The Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has said that the Taoiseach still has questions to answer in relation to his tax issues.
Speaking on radio this morning Mr Kenny said Mr Ahern cannot declare himself tax compliant and that he has misled the Dáil over the issues of his personal finances.
"He had more lodgements than he declared before the general election and he either cannot or won't answer questions about sums of money that are now the equivalent in today's terms of almost €500,000," Mr Kenny told RTÉ's Morning Irelandprogramme.
He also said that the Taoiseach himself is at fault for the unanswered questions.
"It is the words of none other than Bertie Ahern himmself at the tribunal, it is his answers to questions that lead on to further revelations - that's what has caused this problem and we should end it now," he said.
Mr Kenny also challenged the Tánaiste Brian Cowen over his support of the Taoiseach.
The Fine Gael leader asked whether Mr Cowen was "happy" with the example set by Mr Ahern and that he should, as the "anointed successor", set out his own standard.
