The building of a new terminal and major support infrastructure will begin immediately and is expected to finish within two years.

Aer Rianta said the significant capital investment would provide facilities capable of handling the airport's projected growth over the next 10 years, when passenger numbers are expected to reach three million a year.

Traffic grew by 6 per cent during 2002 to a record 1.9 million and on current trends, the milestone two million passengers a year will be surpassed during this year, Aier Rianta said.
