A man was convicted by a jury yesterday of assaulting an alleged rape victim who has cerebral palsy.
The jury is to return to the Central Criminal Court this morning to continue deliberating on charges of rape and sexual assault the defendant still faces in relation to the victim.
The 27-year-old man was found guilty of assaulting the victim, occasioning him actual bodily harm, on March 20th, 1997. The jury was sent to a hotel for the night after Mr Justice Carney was told it had not reached any decision on the two outstanding charges.
