TOKYO - Shoko Asahara, the doomsday cult guru accused of a 1995 Tokyo subway nerve gas attack, declared in court yesterday: "I will go to Heaven," as witnesses described the agony of the victims.

Mr Tsutomu Omuro, a ticket collector on Tokyo's Hibiya underground line, told Tokyo District Court how he tried to carry collapsed passengers to safety shortly after the deadly sarin nerve gas was released inside the station.
