Eight people died and 15 were injured in a head-on main highway collision between a school bus and a heavy truck yesterday at Buelna in the Asturias region of north-western Spain, the civil guard service said.
Seven occupants of the bus, including its driver and the driver of the truck, died in the crash, whose cause was not known. Most of the dead and injured were adolescents. The bus had been carrying 43 pupils, aged 12 to 16, who were all from one school, the Alfonso IX college of Llanes, between Gijon and Santander.
