MORE THAN 770,000 passengers will travel through Dublin, Shannon and Cork airports between December 16th and January 5th, Aer Rianta said.

Dublin Airport is expected to handle 640,000 passengers between these dates. This represents a 17 per cent increase on the corresponding period last year. An additional 320 flights are required to handle the increased traffic.

Shannon Airport will handle 73,000 passengers in the Christmas period, up 14 per cent on last year. There are 12 extra transatlantic flights and 10 extra flights from Britain and the Continent. Cork Airport is handling 58,000 travellers over the holidays, an increase on last year of 15 per cent.
