A FUND set up to help the family of murdered English grandmother Lorraine White with her funeral costs has raised more than €5,500.

Ms White (42) died in hospital from internal injuries after she was raped at her home in Callan, Co Kilkenny, 10 days ago. Her family has decided to bring her remains back to Wigan in England for burial.

Mother-of-five Ms White had moved to Callan in recent years with an Irish man. She had lived in the house in which she was attacked with her daughter Elizabeth and two grandchildren from another daughter. Gardaí have completed forensic examinations at two houses in Callan and have released Ms White's body to her family.

Ms White's daughter Elizabeth is understood to be waiting on death certificate documentation before repatriating her mother's body to England for burial.
