LIMA - Thirty five people died from electrocution and at least 50 were injured late on Wednesday when a high voltage cable, struck by a firework, crashed onto a crowd during festivities in Areqnipa, Peru's second city.
The 10,000 volt cable slashed through about 1,500 people celebrating the city's 456th anniversary on a bridge shortly before midnight, the mayor, Mr Roger Caceres, said.
