A six-year-old boy won almost £200,000 yesterday after a mountain guide was found to have been negligent in the accidental death of his father.

Daniel Headley was not born when his father, Gerald (41), was killed in the Mont Blanc range in France in July 1990, guided by Mr David Cuthbertson.

The judge found that the guide had failed to follow standard safety procedures for climbing on ice, fixing two screws into the ice to hold Mr Hedley while Mr Cuthbertson climbed ahead.
