Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to an armed robbery of €200,000 worth of cigarettes in north Dublin yesterday.
The van containing the cigarettes was held up when it stopped at traffic lights on the N2 north of Finglas at 7.15am. A man wearing a high-visibility yellow jacket and builder's hard hat opened the passenger door and got into the van.
He produced a handgun and told the driver to take the van to the St Margaret's area, where he and his passenger were forced out of the vehicle with their heads covered by bags.
A number of men then transferred the consignment into a waiting truck and escaped.
