Twenty alleged drug dealers arrested in early morning Garda swoops yesterday following Operation Cleanstreet II have appeared in Dublin District Court. One was remanded in custody while the rest were remanded on bail to appear in July and September for directions from the DPP.

The arrests follow undercover operations by District Drug Squads and co-ordinated by the National Garda Drugs Unit last May and June in which 200 heroin deals were seized.

Specific locations in Ballymun, Rialto, Inchicore, Dolphin's Barn, the city centre and Finglas, which had become known for street drug dealing, were targeted. Mr Thomas Kelly (36), of Dorset Street Flats, Dublin, who is accused of having heroin for supply at St Michael's Estate, Inchicore, on May 21st was remanded in custody to appear again on June 25th.

Mr Eamonn Flood (21), of Knocknaree Road, Drimnagh, Mr Peter Meleady (17), of Kildonan Avenue, Finglas West, Mr Christopher Maher (23), of James Connolly Tower, Ballymun, and Mr Mark Boylan (28) of Joseph Plunkett Tower, Ballymun, are each separately charged with having heroin for supply at Ballymun Town Centre on May 23rd.

Mr Colin Smith (21) of Crumlin Rd and Mr Gavin Guinan (21) of Lissadell Rd, Drimnagh are each charged with having heroin for supply at Goldenbridge Walk, Rialto on June 3rd.

Ms Amanda Kiely (19), of Coultry Way, Ballymun, is accused of having heroin for supply at Ballymun Town Centre on May 30th, while Mr Liam Hill (26), of McKee Avenue, Finglas East, is accused of supplying heroin at the same shopping centre on June 6th and 25th.

Mr Brendan Bradley (25), of Glenale Road, Edenmore, is accused of supplying heroin at Edenmore Shopping Centre on May 26th, while Mr Greg Flynn (23), of Avondale House, and Mr John Hortins (24), of Champions Avenue, both Dublin, are each charged with supplying heroin at Gardiner Street on May 24th.

Mr Sean Roche (18), of Kilworth Road, Drimnagh, is accused of heroin supply at Davitt Road, Drimnagh, on June 3rd, Ms Mary Dempsey (27), of Rutland Grove, Crumlin, is accused of heroin supply at St Michael's Estate, Inchicore, on June 11th, and Ms Jennifer O'Shea (24), of Rutland Grove, Crumlin, is accused of heroin supply at Dolphin's Barn on June 10th. Four defendants accused of supplying cannabis in the Berryfield area of Finglas South were also arrested as part of the operation.

Mr Stuart Seery (21), of Berryfield Road, is accused of supply on June 5th, Ms Laura Byrne (21), of Berryfield Road, is accused of supply on June 5th, Mr James Donohoe (18), of Barnamore Grove, is accused of supply on June 8th, and Mr Gary Doyle (25), of Kippure Park Gardens, is accused of supply on June 11th.

Mr David Hinch (32), of Elmfield Road, Whitehall, is accused of supplying cannabis at Whitehall Snooker Club on June 1st.

The 19 defendants were remanded on their own bail of £100.
