More than 15,000 homes were left without power in Co Donegal yesterday after a power fault hit a major conductor, writes Stephen Maguire. A spokesman for the ESB said homes in Creeslough, Letterkenny and Milford were off the grid for up to 40 minutes at about 7am. Repair crews had most homes back in power in a short period of time.

ESB spokesman Brian Montayne said the problem lay with a 38V line but the cause of the interruption was still being investigated. “We are still looking into the matter. It may have something to do with damage which was caused as a result of Monday’s storm,” he said.
