The closure of Co Tipperary-based electrical contractors will result in the loss of 142 jobs, it was announced last evening.
Jer Ryan Electrical Contractors Ltd is based in Clonmel but has offices in Dublin and Cork. “Despite strenuous efforts to secure the survival of the company” it had been left with “no option but to cease trading”, directors of the engineering firm said in a statement.
The statement said that “adverse trading conditions” particularly in construction, had resulted in the “unwelcome decision”. The company has operated for 16 years and at its peak had a workforce of 350.
It thanked the “loyal staff” as well as customers and suppliers which had supported it.
