Patna - The death toll in poll-related violence in the eastern state of Bihar during the fourth round of India's five-phase parliamentary elections has climbed to 13, police said yesterday. Three activists of the Communist Party of India (MarxistLeninist) and a supporter of the state's ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal were killed in a clash in Kabirpur village in Bihar on Sunday, Mr M.K. Sinha, Inspector General of Police (Operations), said.

Mr Sinha said the armed CPI workers swooped on the village in the early morning and shot down the Janata Dal worker, a former head of the village.

"In retaliation, the villagers caught hold of the three miscreants and lynched them."
