The treasurer of a school parent's council who misappropriated nearly £120,000 has been told by a Circuit Court judged that he will not be released from custody unless £30,000 is in court next Friday. To date, a sum just in excess of £20,000 has been repaid by the family of the defendant, Brendan Moore (46), Beach Park, Laytown, Co Meath.

At Dundalk Circuit Court Moore pleaded guilty to 10 charges of either forging or feloniously converting cheques drawn on the account of St Mary's Diocesan School Parent's Council in Drogheda between September, 1993, and July, 1994, while he was the elected treasurer of the council. He had been remanded in custody by Judge Patrick Smith for sentencing at Trim Circuit Court yesterday.
