Over 1,000 jobs are expected to be created in Limerick over the next three years as a result of a £200 million urban renewal programme, which was announced yesterday by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr Robert Molloy. The project areas are at 45 sites covering 50 acres. Mr Brendan Keating, city manager, welcoming the new Integrated Area Plan, said that £180 million had been spent on rejuvenating the city over the last 12 years.

The area covers the Abbey, Markets, Edward Street, the Docks, Quays and the Georgian areas of O'Connell Street and Mallow Street.
