CLOTHES LINE:It may be politically incorrect to praise expensive bags these days, but it's hard not to be impressed by Marc Jacobs' spring collection for Louis Vuitton, in particular the Stephen Sprouse-inspired leopard-print clutches and holdalls with glow-in-the-dark graffiti motifs (in now, around €850, see www.welovesprouse.com).

A shot of electric green on sun visors (€290) was another winning touch. The accessories collection had a sophisticated tribal look, the key shape being the new slouchy Kalahari bags with beaded drawstrings and ornate handles. Gorgeously soft and supple they may be, affordable they are not. For the executive female, the Icara working bag with space for a laptop along with keys, cosmetics, mobiles and other paraphernalia, is certainly practical as well as stylish, if less fun.
