JUDI CURTIN- author
What’s your earliest holiday memory?
I lived in England as a child and our holidays were with relatives in Cork. My earliest memory is being sick the whole way from London to Fishguard.
What was your worst holiday?
Going with small children to France where it was too wet to go anywhere, in a holiday village where all activities were outdoors. We took turns to sit in the hire car to listen to the radio.
What was your best holiday?
I’ve done lots of house swaps, but the very best was to Ventura, north of LA, with a journalist whose house was full of photos with the stars. He had picked friends with similar aged children so they went on sleepovers and we met some really interesting people.
If budget or work were no restriction, what would be your dream holiday?
Somewhere warm overlooking the sea, a library, Scrabble and room for family and friends.
If you had your pick, who would you take on holiday?
My husband and children, who are all teenagers so holidays with them are numbered.
What’s your favourite place in Ireland?
West Cork – my parents have a house near Rosscarbery – so peaceful, and beautiful coastlines.
Recommended reading?
Blake Morrison's And When Did You Last See Your Father?I've already packed mine: Anne Enright's The Forgotten Waltzand Lionel Shriver's The Post-Birthday World. The worst thing would be to run out of books.
Where will you go to next?
We’re going to Crete for a week. We’ll just read, eat, lie in the sun and dip our toes in the sea.
