Halloween antics:The capital will be a scary place on Friday, with an assortment of Halloween activities at the Civic Amphitheatre, City Hall, Dublin Castle and Barnardo Square. The programme includes entertainment inspired by characters from Bram Stoker's

Star gazing:You don't have to have your head in the clouds for a bit of star gazing. Get along to Cork's Blackrock Castle Observatory tonight for a global Star Party from 8pm. This is one of the Galilean nights marking 400 years since Galileo's telescopic observations revolutionised our view of the universe. Tonight Jupiter (above) and the moon will be well positioned to observe in the night sky.
Chocolate treat:Chocolate takes to the outdoors next weekend with the Temple Bar Chocolate Festival. Artisan producers will gather in Meeting House Square on Sunday, offering samples and tastings, with a chance to decorate your own cupcakes (above) and make your own truffles. Wrap up warm for the free outdoor screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factoryat the same outdoor venue on Friday evening, 30th October. See templebar.ie.
