Róisín Meets . . . comedian Mario Rosenstock

Comic talks about his live show, new characters and why he mimics Fintan O’Toole

Comic Mario Rosenstock returns to the Roísin Meets podcast this week to talk about his new live show, his expanding cast of characters and incorporating councillor Hugh McElvaney into his act.

“It’s sometimes too much because some story like that happens and initially people think, someone like Mario is going to have an absolute field day with that. But you don’t. I did a couple of things on it but its just too grotesque to even beat it,” he tells Roísín on this week’s podcast.

“So I go to my first port of call for something like that, which is Fintan O’Toole. Fintan’s brain operates like an inverted comic. He juxtaposes certain things in the same way as a comic does . . . but without the jokes.”

Mario Rosenstock Live will premiere in Cork Opera House on March 23rd, 2016, before touring the country and finishing with five nights in the Gaiety Theatre from April 26th.
