The Ulster Grand Prix at the Dundrod Circuit calls itself the world's fastest road race, and a series of events take place this week, including practice days on Wednesday and Thursday. It runs until Saturday. Entry costs £25 per person, and grandstand seats are available at the start and finish lines. ulstergrandprix.net

The Siamsa Sráide street festival runs until Wednesday in Swinford. It includes history walks and talks as well as a well-attended busking competition. Admission is free. siamsa-sraide.com

DUBLIN

The Northside Music Festival begins today and runs until the end of the month. City parks, community centres, churches and other civic spaces will play host to music events. There's also a range of workshops. Admission is free but booking is required. dublincity.ie

LAOIS

The 48th National Steam Rally takes place today at Stradbally, with more than 40 steam engines to give demonstrations. Present will be one of the cars that was at Béal na mBláth when Michael Collins was killed. Open from 10am to 6pm. Admission €10. irishsteam.ie

DUBLIN

The Ark cultural centre has a range of events on today including arts and crafts in the indoor garden with Jole Bortoli. Tickets for children are €4, and accompanying adults go free. Open from 10.30am to 5pm. ark.ie
