THE SOCIAL NETWORK:Parnell Square had a special visitor on Tuesday evening, when the new British ambassador, Dominick Chilcott, arrived. He and his wife, Jane, were special guests at Lilies: or The Revival of a Romantic Drama, which was staged at the Teachers' Club as part of the 9th International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival.
Ambassador Chilcott told me that he is finding Ireland “very hospitable and welcoming”. He said that he has settled into the role, which is “full of content”.
The couple are very keen on the arts; Jane is a trained alto, and was a member of the Choral Arts Society of Washington.
The couple were met by Callum Cheatle, the festival manager, who is from Lincolnshire. He is the founder of Peculius Stage, and has been based here since March. He will return to the UK when the festival finishes on May 20th.
