Magical mystery tours don't often start in a train station, but Iarnród Éireann and RailTours Ireland promise you'll be transported, mentally and physically, if you join them for a day exploring coastal villages, inland towns and magnificent castles, on their weekly surprise tours.
Every Sunday from tomorrow until October 28th, you can check-in at Connolly Station in Dublin for a trip into the great unknown. The destination remains a secret until you're on board, and passengers will be accompanied by a Railtours Ireland representative. Tickets cost €39 for an adult, €89 for two adults and two children, and can be booked at railtoursireland.com. The tours depart at 9.40am and return at 6.15pm. No passports are required, although you may find yourself crossing a border if you board the Enterprise train, seen here crossing the Boyne viaduct.
