The Special Olympics gets under way from June 21st. AA Roadwatch will have a section of its website dedicated to the Special Olympics, with details of how to get to every venue, and traffic restrictions that will be in place. The web address is www.aaroadwatch.ie

To host an entertainment evening for the Special Olympics, the Blanchardstown Centre in Dublin will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24th.

DUBLIN: Ballycullen Road closed from junction of Daletree Road to Oldcourt Road. Alternative routes via Oldcourt Road and Daletree Road, diversion signs will be in place.

Roadworks on Nangor Road, 500 metres on Clondalkin side of Pollyhops Pub, expect delays from Lucan & Newcastle. Temporary traffic lights: work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. Cycle races in Phoenix Park, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesdays: July 1st, July 15th, July 22nd and August 19th. Roads to be closed: the Main Road (between Phoenix Junction and Mountjoy Cross), and Survey Road (between junction with Main Road and junction with the Furze, Upper Glen and Knockmaroon Roads). Traffic diverted or halted: Phoenix Junction, Mountjoy Junction and junction of Survey Road, Upper Glen Road, Furze Road and Knockmaroon Road.

LOUTH: the Drogheda Bypass is open. The interchanges are at Gormanstown, Duleek Road, Donore Road, Mell and Monasterboice. Drivers are asked to exercise caution at the entry ramps, especially at Gormanstown at the southern end of the bypass, and at Monasterboice at the northern end, where the layout has been changed.The bypass is tolled, with the toll plaza 7 kms south of Drogheda. Charges are €0.80 for motorbikes, €1.50 for cars, €2.70 for buses, coaches and light commercial vans, €3.80 for HGVs, or €4.90 for HGVs with more than four axles.

On June 27th, a new stretch of motorway will open from Dublin airport to Balbriggan.

CORK: restrictions on Sullivans Quay - traffic one-lane, as Quay Wall under repair. A section of the footpath along the riverside has been closed. There's been a change to bus stops in the city centre: numbers 3 and 8 buses will leave from outside Phelans Pharmacy, while on South Mall, buses depart from southern side of the Imperial Hotel.

KILDARE: construction of the Kildare bypass on the N7 means no left turn from Kildare to Monasterevin at Cherryville crossroads. Instead take next left, the Athy left, at Monasterevin. The road between Ballymore Eustace and Brannockstown is closed at Ardinore, traffic has to divert.

LIMERICK: roadworks on Dooradoyle Road between the two roundabouts at the Crescent Shopping Centre, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Roadworks on the Rosbrien Road, expect delays.

ROSCOMMON: N5 closed between Strokestown and Tulsk, traffic divert and go via Four Mile House. The N55 is closed between Granard and Balleneagh to facilitate roadworks.

CARLOW: roadworks at junction of N9/Hanover Junction, Barrack St/Kennedy Avenue. Roadworks will also be in place at Paupish Lane and Angler's Walk junction and alongside New Oak Estate to Staplestown Road. There may be delays for local traffic.
