Honda’s new transmission
HONDA HAS introduced its new dual clutch transmission which will be used in the new VFR 1200 for 2010.
The new technology means one clutch for odd gears, and one for even gears.
According to Honda, “the new transmission provides riders with fuel economy equal to or better than a conventional manual”.
Each clutch engages the next gear and, with the aid of the computer, gradually disengages one clutch and engages the other.
It has three operating modes and a six-speed mode that simulates manual shifting – this should make for smooth gear shifting.
