Anything within walking distance of the DART - this is a key factor. All the roads around Clarinda Park and Crossthwaite and houses in and around the town. Smaller period houses, such as those on Cross Avenue and Convent Road, are beside everything. The new shopping centre has shifted the centre of gravity and business is shifting northwards towards Bloomfields.

For purchasers with a bigger budget, Clarinda Park and Royal Terrace are surging ahead. These handsome period houses are making around £500,000 - not bad considering a mile down the road in Monks town they are making £700,000-plus."

I would pick Monkstown Farm because you can still get good value at around £125,000 for a house to do up as you go along. The period houses in Dun Laoghaire are out of the price bracket for first-time buyers.
