Order gets £12m for land

Castleknock College is the latest Dublin religious institution to cash in on the property boom

Castleknock College is the latest Dublin religious institution to cash in on the property boom. The Vincentian Congregation has just netted almost £12 million for 35 acres of housing land close to the Phoenix Park. Larry Keegan's Lido Construction company was the successful bidder and he is expected to build about 220 large detached houses in the same grandiose style as his Eagle Valley development on the Powerscourt Estate in Enniskerry. Local agent Jim Flynn acquired the land for Mr Keegan, beating off stiff competition from a handful of cash-rich house-builders. Parents needn't worry that Castleknock won't have enough space to improve their rugby skills - the college still has no less than 75 valuable acres.
