From a fine house in Killiney to spacious period-style golf resort homes, fixer-uppers and cut-price first-time buys, there’s plenty on view this weekend

THE LAST time Donard, a large 1880s semi-detached house on a third of an acre in Killiney, landed on the property desk, the asking price was €3.5 million and the owners were planning to move out of the country on the proceeds. Now, 12 months on, the price has been dropped to €1.95 million, says Ronan O’Hara of Savills.

The five-bedroom house, which has ornate balconies that face the sea leading off two of the bedrooms, has a nice old fashioned garden, backing onto the extensive grounds of the former Canadian embassy residence.

It’s a three-storey house with fine formal reception rooms and good family space including large airy bedrooms and a big study.
