Fingal County Council has granted planning permission for what essentially amounts to a new village at the former Ongar Stud, at Hansfield Road, Dublin 15. The development, described as "mixed use", includes 239 homes in a variety of one to four-bedroom homes - some including provision for what the developer, King of the Castle Ltd, calls "home-based economic activity" - in a mix of two and three-storey buildings, mews houses, duplexes and apartments.
The commercial element includes the village centre comprising a series of two and three-storey buildings set out along an urban model with new streets. Envisaged here are a medical centre, a Montessori school, a hot food take-away, a financial services unit, an off-licence, a mini-market and 17 shop units. The development also includes 23 offices, a public house, a restaurant and car-parking.
Access is proposed at two points off the local distributor road network and Hansfield Road. It is proposed that these access points will also serve further phases of the new village, which will be the subject of a separate planning application by other property developers.
