CO CLARE: €350,000:THE Co Clare home of the late writer Nuala O'Faolain, is on the market asking €350,000. The two-bedroom cottage located between Lahinch and Miltown Malbay, was a bolthole for the author who spent her later years in America where she had considerable success as a novelist.

O’Faolain, who died in 2008 at the age of 68, left a lengthy will that included bequests to many of her friends to indulge their passions, be it new shoes or holidays. She left the Clare house to her two sisters, Deirdre and Noreen, who have now decided to put the property on the market. The renovated cottage standing on half an acre of garden, is for sale through estate agent Patricia McCarthy of Newmarket on Fergus.

Dating from the late 19th century the cottage is set in a small enclave close to Barrtra Restaurant, which specialises in seafood and has been in business for over 20 years.

The cottage has around 116 sq m (1,250 sq ft) of living space with the original part of the house now a large livingroom, with a second open plan kitchen cum diningroom with an open fireplace. There are two bathrooms and a laundry room.
