MR GERRY Gannon of Gannon Homes has paid almost £1.4 million for a 2.35-acre site at Main Street and Malahide Road, Swords, north co Dublin. The parcel of land is likely to accommodate about 25,000 square feet of retail and office space and about 50 apartments and townhouses.

McCormick estate agents handled the sale for a Northern Ireland developer, who bought most of the site two years ago for £700,000. He subsequently enlarged the site by buying a two-storey house at 5 Malahide Road, which will probably be demolished. There is currently planning permission for a 126-bedroom hotel on the site.
