Hotel plan rejected

DUBLIN Corporation has refused planning permission for a hotel in Temple Bar

DUBLIN Corporation has refused planning permission for a hotel in Temple Bar. Tandoori Rooms Ltd had sought approval to extend 18 Fleet Street by one storey to accommodate two suites and to convert existing accommodation into six further suites. It also applied for permission to develop a 16-suite hotel block on four floors over an approved retail development at 7/8 Prices Lane.

On the north side of the city, the Fianna Fail senator, Donie Cassidy, secured planning permission to convert the former county council office building at 7/8 Cavendish Row into a 68-bedroom hotel. Mr Cassidy recently paid £1.5 million for the office block, which stands on the site of the old Groomes Hotel.

The city planners have refused planning permission for a two-storey extension over basement at the Merrion Shopping Centre, Merrion Road, Dublin 4. Most of the space was to have been occupied by Quinnsworth.
