Spain: from €275,960 Launching today with Gunne New Homes Overseas and CBRE Marbella is Hacienda del Sol, a development of apartments and attic duplexes on the coastal strip between San Pedro and Estepona on the Spanish Costa del Sol.
On the sea side of the coast road, the new complex is being built in Andalucian style by Realia, the sixth largest construction firm in Spain.
While luxury is an over-used word, Hacienda del Sol promises a top class spec, with cream marble floors, fully fitted kitchens with granite worktops and appliances and large partly-covered terraces. The location is ideal for sun-worshippers, 300 yards from the beach and set in planned tropical gardens. Communal areas include swimming pools, a Jacuzzi, tennis courts and a children's playground. The Marriott group is building a hotel on an adjoining site.
Prices start at €275,960 for good-sized two-bedroom apartments of 80 sq m (861 sq ft) plus a covered terrace of 12 sq m (129 sq ft) which considerably extends the living area; €342,051 will buy a 98 sq m (1,054 sq ft) three-bedroom apartment with a 17 sq m (184 sq ft) terrace; and four-bedroom apartments of 125 sq m (1,345 sq ft) plus a 36 sq m (387 sq ft) terrace start at €471,000.
Open fireplaces are provided in sittingrooms to ward off the winter chill, although with January temperatures sometimes reaching 20 degrees, this will remain unused for most of the year. Air-conditioning is also provided. Golf courses in the vicinity include Guadalmina, La Quinta and Aloha. The site is about 40 minutes from Málaga Airport along the Alto Pista del Sol motorway.
Construction is well under way at Hacienda del Sol and buyers in earlier phases have moved in. Completions in the current phase are expected to take place between July this year and July 2006.
