The home furnishings group, Meadows & Byrne, is to open a large store next September at the Pavilion development in Dun Laoghaire. The 12,000 sq ft store will face the DART station. Like many new developments, the lease is thought to provide for a staggered rent starting at around £20 per sq ft. The high profile trader will handle a wide range of contemporary furniture, craft and home accessories and there will also be a cafe run by the company. Ms Freda Hayes, founder of the group, says it viewed the ferry terminal, the attractions of the Dun Laoghaire piers and the proposed marina as key considerations in its decision to locate in the Pavilion. The recently opened Pavilion car-park has over 300 spaces, and a municipal theatre is due to be handed over to Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council next July. The development will also include 96 large apartments and penthouses. McCormick Estates and DTZ Sherry FitzGerald handled the letting.
